Kevin & Catherine’s Wedding Day
My First wedding…
Can you imagine my nerves that morning? Well to my own surprise said nerves soon evaporated when I met Kevin & Catherine, along with their extended family. Such lovely people; so chilled and excited, I was rooting for them from the very beginning. I had a perfect first wedding as a photographer, I know this is a claim not many can honestly make but I’m so pleased with the outcome.
As with all my work, I always do my best. If I come across a hurdle, no matter the size you can be sure I will learn how to get over it. I am totally transparent with everybody. I had not looked into doing weddings last year as I simply had not got the experience. When I got an enquiry from Catherine I was so touched that someone was willing to take a chance on me and intrust in me to capture such a special day. Since I delivered the final photos to the happily married couple I have received so much support and kind words from many, and to my delight bookings!! I was over the moon when they started to come, I am buzzing for the future and I can’t wait to share it with you all.
See below for what Catherine had to say about her experience with me as their photographer and her wedding day:
Kevin and I got engaged in December 2019 in Galway and decided to get married 364 days later on 12.12.2020! We are both pretty laid back, I knew I wanted something very relaxed and low key. It was a strange year with announcement after announcement of restrictions, daily covid-19 positive figures and lockdown measures but we went with the flow and hoped for the best. It was our ultimate aim to get married so everything else that we could manage was a bonus. It only really registered with me about 8 weeks before the wedding that I was actually getting married and needed a dress, flowers, photographer, hotel etc so I got my skates on at that point. I had seen Martin’s work on Facebook and really loved his natural style of photography. I also had a recommendation from someone at work that had Martin do a family photo session so I decided to contact Martin and luckily for us he was free on that date! It was his first wedding but I had no doubt that he would capture the memories perfectly. Everything seemed to fall into place for us. I recall being on night duty one night and see a message on my phone from Martin saying that restrictions were coming into place in December but they were relaxing them on the 11th again (the day before we tied the knot!)
A close shave! A week or so before the wedding Martin had sent me a detailed timetable of his time of arrival, what time I needed to be ready for photos, ready to leave the house etc and some other top tips for the day itself. It was easy known he got married during a pandemic himself with all the good advice.
So the day finally came!
Martin arrived at the groom’s house first as I wasn’t back from the hairdressers yet. It was a lovely fresh and crisp December morning and I knew that Martin would get great photos of Kevin and his other loves in his life (his cows) and that he did! We will treasure these. I returned from my appointment and Martin came over to capture that really special morning in our house, it was so magical. It was honestly as if I had met Martin before- he was so friendly and seemed to be buzzing as much as we all were! The time just disappeared and the next thing I knew we were getting into the car ready to leave for the chapel! Ahh, I would just love to do this part again. I wouldn’t have even known Martin was there in the church, he melted into the background but managed to capture all the special moments all the same. After the chapel, we (more so Kevin) thought it would be a good idea to return to the farm for more photos! And here’s me thinking he got his farm photoshoot out of the day in the morning time. It was good fun anyway. We then went out of Kevin’s farm lane for our group photos. Martin kindly provided the smoke bombs which was a lovely surprise and really added to the photos. We made our way back to our house for the last of the photos. I’m so glad we did because these are the most special of us in our wee home together. The sun was beginning to disappear at this point and I couldn’t wait any longer before joining the party so Martin came along with us to the hotel. It was great to have him there capturing the faces of our nearest and dearest. I wouldn’t change anything about the day, only to do it all again! Martin was 10/10! So super nice, relaxed and went with the flow on the day. So glad we booked you and you were free to capture all the memories of our favourite day! Hopefully, see you down the line, Martin, for more photoshoots!
